B-Iris- Star Ship Enterprise (44)

by mikea44646 on June 8, 2009

Planted in the Fall of 2007 – my “Starship Enterprise” Iris Plants have blossomed.

What is significant about this plant is the story of why I planted them. As you may have guessed, Star Trek reference in the name of this particular species of plant (if word species is correct) is the key. Two very close friends — Jan Cheripko and Geoff Westby – both gardeners and landscape enthusiasts — were trying to encourage me to broaden my horizons and experiment with gardening. In order to maximize the chance of success, they appealedĀ using something that was already near and dear to my heart – my fanaticism about “Star Trek”. How could I refuse? And the result is validation for their efforts. I planted a few bulbs and waited patiently for them to grow and bloom and now I have the satisfaction of being able to show them to the world.

Thank you Geoff & Jan

What a fabulous variety of iris…it’s a been a great Spring for the iris. Many of our varieties are doing better then ever before. Not sue why this Spring is different then previous ones, but the results are awesome.
